1. ABOUT US
Jaws Auto Locks (“we”, “us”) is a mobile automotive locksmith service.
Trading name: Jaws Auto Locks
Owner / company name and number: William Robertson
Phone: 07438 242751
Email: [email protected]
Website: jawsautolocks.co.uk
These terms apply to every booking you make with us, whether online, by phone or in person. By booking, you agree to them.
2. OUR SERVICES
We provide vehicle lockout, additional key and all keys lost services at the location you give us. The three main job types are:
– Lockout: we gain entry to your vehicle.
– Additional key: we supply and programme a spare key when you already have a working key.
– All keys lost: we supply and programme a new key when you have no working key.
3. QUOTES AND PRICES
3.1 Your quote is based on the vehicle registration, the job type, your location and the time of the appointment that you give us. All prices include VAT.
3.2 A quote is a fixed price for the job described. We will not add to it on the day unless the job turns out to be different from what you told us, for example the vehicle is not the one you gave us, the key type is different, or extra work is needed. If that happens we will explain the difference and agree any new price with you before we start. You can decline, and we will not charge you for the work we did not do, however a call out charge may still be applicable. See 3.4.
3.3 Evening charge: jobs booked for any time between 6pm and 6am (UK time) include a 25% evening callout charge. This is shown in your quote before you book.
3.4 Call-out charge: if we attend and cannot carry out the work because you cannot show proof of right to access (see section 5) or the information you gave us was wrong, we may charge a call-out fee of £50.
3.5 Quotes are valid for 24 hours.
3.6 Vehicles located more than 2o miles away from our base location will be quoted a travel charge.
4. BOOKING AND APPOINTMENTS
4.1 You can ask for us to attend as soon as possible, or choose a date and time. We aim to arrive at the time we give you. Travel, weather and earlier jobs can affect this, and we will tell you if we are going to be late.
4.2 For as-soon-as-possible jobs we will confirm an estimated arrival time by WhatsApp, phone or text. This is an estimate, not a guarantee.
4.3 You or an adult you have authorised must be present at the vehicle when we arrive.
4.4 If we cannot reach you or the vehicle at the booked time and place, and we have waited 30 minutes, we may treat the booking as cancelled and charge the call-out fee in 3.4.
5. PROOF OF RIGHT TO ACCESS
5.1 Before we do any work on a vehicle we must be satisfied that you are entitled to have it worked on. This protects vehicle owners and helps prevent theft.
5.2 We will ask to see proof, such as the V5C logbook in your name, photo ID together with the V5C, a purchase receipt, an insurance certificate or a hire agreement.
5.3 We take a photo of the document we relied on and keep it for 12 months, as explained in our Privacy Policy below.
5.4 If you cannot satisfy us, we will not carry out the work. This is our decision, and we may refuse a job without giving further reasons where we think it is necessary.
5.5 If you give us false information or false documents, we may report it to the police.
6. PAYMENT
6.1 You can pay by card at the job using our card reader or phone, or by a secure payment link sent by email or message.
6.2 Payment is due when the work is finished, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We will send you an invoice or receipt.
6.3 Card payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
6.4 If you do not pay on time, we may charge interest and recover costs as the law allows.
7. YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL
7.1 You can cancel a booking before we arrive. Cancelling less than 1 hour before an appointment may be charged at £50
7.2 If you booked online or by phone, you normally have 14 days from the booking to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
7.3 Our work is often urgent. If you ask us to start the work within those 14 days, for example by booking for as soon as possible or for a specific time, and then cancel, you must pay for what we have already done or the costs we have incurred up to that point, including any call-out.
7.4 If we have fully completed the work at your request before the 14 days end, you lose your right to cancel once the work is complete.
7.5 To cancel, call us on 07438 242751 or email [email protected].
8. IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL OR CHANGE A BOOKING
We may need to reschedule or cancel for reasons we cannot control, such as illness, vehicle breakdown or severe weather. If we do, we will tell you as soon as we can and offer you another time or a full refund of anything you have paid for that booking.
9. OUR WORK AND WARRANTY
9.1 We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill.
9.2 Warranty: we guarantee the keys and programming we supply for 3 months from the job date. If a key we supplied stops working through a fault in the key or our programming, we will repair or replace it free of charge. This does not cover lost, stolen or deliberately damaged keys, water damage or normal wear.
9.3 This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer. If something we supply or do is faulty or not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund, or a price reduction, as the law provides.
10. KEYS, VEHICLES AND DAMAGE
10.1 Vehicle locks, doors and electronics vary, and gaining entry or programming a key can sometimes cause damage even when done with proper care. We will explain any known risk before we start where we can.
10.2 We are responsible for damage caused by our own negligence or failure to take reasonable care.
10.3 Other than that, we are not responsible for existing faults, damage that was already there, or problems that come from information you gave us that turned out to be wrong.
10.4 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
10.5 Once we hand over a key, you are responsible for looking after it. If you lose it or a copy is made without our involvement, we are not responsible for what follows.
11. COMPLAINTS
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us first by phone on 07438 242751 or email [email protected]. We will try to put things right and reply within 7 working days.
12. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force on the date of your booking is the one that applies to that booking.
13. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland and the courts of Scotland have jurisdiction, but if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
